Betterjournal gives registered psychologists a structured way to assign between-session work, review what clients share, and arrive prepared for every appointment. Without live monitoring.
Designed for Canadian private practice. Built around PIPA and CAP guidelines.
What Betterjournal does
Six features that support between-session care without creating clinical liability or requiring real-time presence.
Send structured homework, journaling prompts, and exercises directly to individual clients. They complete it on their own time, between sessions.
See mood trends, homework responses, and journal entries: only what the client has explicitly shared. No hidden access, ever.
Each session brief surfaces the week's patterns so you walk into the room with context, not catch-up questions. Less recap. More depth.
Build and reuse structured homework templates, thought records, and exercises. Share templates across your clinic or keep them private to your practice.
One view across all your active clients: check-in status, homework completion, and upcoming sessions. Know where everyone stands before you begin your day.
Send a note or respond to a client at your own pace. Betterjournal is not a live chat platform. It is designed for structured, asynchronous communication.
What Betterjournal is not
Betterjournal is designed to support your private-practice workflow. It is not a telehealth platform, a crisis service, or a replacement for clinical judgment.
Betterjournal is not monitored in real time. It does not assess risk. Crisis situations must be managed through your existing emergency protocols, 988, or emergency services.
Therapy sessions take place outside this application. Betterjournal supports the work between appointments. It does not deliver or replicate therapy in any form.
Pattern detection and session brief generation are instruments you review before use. The AI never makes clinical assessments, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations.
Getting started
Submit your details through the waitlist form. Betterjournal is currently invite-only for registered clinicians in Canada.
Confirm your registration details and acknowledge the platform's scope and limits. Takes about five minutes.
Send a secure invite link. The client creates a free account and connects to your practice. No technical setup on their end.
Send structured homework. Review what the client shares. Open the session brief before your next appointment and walk in prepared.
Pricing
A private-practice session costs $180–250. Betterjournal costs less than one and supports your entire caseload for the month. The client app is always free.
