The Betterjournal.
Built for between sessions.

Betterjournal gives therapy clients a private place to reflect, track mood, and complete guided work between appointments. Better than a generic journaling app, because it is built around the therapeutic relationship, not just alongside it.

Private by default. Clinically connected. Always free for clients.

What Betterjournal gives you

Support between sessions,
on your terms.

Betterjournal is built around four things that matter most in the six days between appointments.

A private journal that's actually private

Write freely between sessions. Betterjournal is not visible to your clinician unless you explicitly share something. You choose what stays private and what gets shared, every single time.

Complete homework from your clinician

Your clinician can send structured assignments, prompts, and exercises directly to the app. Respond when it suits you, at your own pace, between appointments. Not just during the 50-minute session.

Track your mood and patterns

Daily check-ins take less than a minute. Over time you start to notice things about your own patterns: what helps, what doesn't, where you actually are versus where you thought you were.

Arrive with clearer starting points

When you share entries before your session, you both arrive with context. Less time recapping the week. More time for the actual work you came for.

The app

Where the work actually happens.

Your journal, your homework, your patterns. In a space built around your sessions, not around social media.

Felt calmer after the breathing exercise. The week was harder than I expected but I noticed I recovered faster than last time. That feels like something worth noting.

Privacy

Your journal is yours.
Share only what you choose.

Betterjournal is built around a clear principle: nothing is visible to your clinician unless you explicitly decide to share it.

Private by default

Every entry, check-in, and homework response is private until you choose to share it. Your clinician cannot see anything without your direct action.

You control every share

Sharing is a deliberate action you take, not something that happens automatically. You can share individual entries, check-ins, or homework responses selectively.

Not a monitoring platform

Betterjournal is not watched in real time. Your clinician reviews what you share on their own time. This is not a live or monitored system.

What Betterjournal is not. Betterjournal is not a crisis service, not a telehealth platform, and not a replacement for professional care. It is not monitored in real time. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 (Canada Suicide Crisis Helpline) or contact your local emergency services.

For clients

Betterjournal is always free for clients.

The client app has no subscription, no paywall, and no hidden fees. Your clinician's practice pays a flat fee. You never do.

Your clinician will send you an invite link to get started. If you don't have one, ask them about Betterjournal at your next session.
