Complementary layers
Practice management tools are essential and Betterjournal does not replace them. The between-session period, the six days between appointments, is not a problem that practice management software was designed to solve.

What practice management tools do
Practice management software (Jane, Owl Practice, SimplePractice, and similar) handles scheduling, billing, clinical notes, consent forms, and telehealth video. These tools are essential for running a practice and Betterjournal does not replace them.
How they work together
A typical workflow: scheduling and notes in Jane or Owl Practice; between-session journaling, homework, and mood tracking in Betterjournal; clinician reviews the Betterjournal dashboard for pre-session brief; session conducted and notes recorded in the practice management tool. The two layers are complementary. Most practices have the first and not the second.
